## Summary

The Broadway musical *Buena Vista Social Club* will close on 17 January after nearly two years, despite continuing to attract large audiences. Its run is on track to recoup its investment before closing, and the production’s future includes an international tour and a planned 2027 opening in London’s West End.

The show opened at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on 19 March 2025 and won five Tony Awards that year, including a special award for its onstage band. It is the first Broadway production with a score sung entirely in Spanish, and follows the making of the Cuban band’s 1997 album alongside stories from the musicians’ past. Productions are also running in Puerto Rico and Mexico City, while lead producer Orin Wolf has hinted at a possible film deal.
