## Summary

Andy Burnham said he would make no apology for appearing on a celebrity edition of Channel 4’s Gogglebox, after Kemi Badenoch accused him of avoiding difficult work to protect the UK. He said the appearance was a way to connect with people and support Stand Up To Cancer, the charity featured in the programme.

A preview showed Burnham becoming tearful as he watched stories of people diagnosed with cancer, and speaking about the devastation for patients and their families. He appeared alongside his friend Steve Rotheram, Liverpool City Region mayor; other guests included Stanley Tucci, Joe Lycett and the Sugababes. Jeremy Corbyn previously appeared on Gogglebox for the charity in 2017.
