Alhambra police say K-9 Otis helped officers find about 200 kilos of cocaine during a traffic stop in California. The seizure led to the arrest of the SUV’s driver and highlights the role of police dogs in drug investigations.

Officers stopped the vehicle on Valley Boulevard near the 710 Freeway and noticed it carried many cardboard boxes. Police said the driver gave differing explanations for the cargo before Otis alerted to the SUV; officers then found the cocaine. Julio Rangel, of Huntington Park, was arrested and booked into the Alhambra Police Department jail.
