Can a managerial merry-go-round in Serie A stop Inter’s dominance?
Serie A's new season begins with a wave of managerial changes at several leading clubs as Italian football hopes to recapture domestic and international attention after a summer dominated by Italian success in other sports. Milan, Napoli and Atalanta have all appointed new head coaches, while the overarching question is whether any of these changes can disrupt Inter's recent dominance of the league, following their title win under Cristian Chivu.
Among the key moves, Ruben Amorim has taken over at Milan following an unhappy spell at Manchester United, and the club paid a record €74m to sign Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain despite his limited recent starts. Massimiliano Allegri has moved from Milan to Napoli, Maurizio Sarri has left Lazio for Atalanta, and Gennaro Gattuso has taken charge at Lazio after failing to guide Italy to World Cup qualification. Transfer activity has otherwise been relatively subdued, with Como's €60m repurchase of Nico Paz from Real Madrid, complete with a further buy-back clause, cited as one of the more notable deals of the summer.
