Toronto-based production company 9 Light Entertainment has launched a sales and distribution arm, which will begin operations with the upcoming comedic thriller Sound & Fury. Founded by Pasha Patriki in 2015, the company will handle sales across Canada and internationally, marking what Patriki described as a "natural evolution" and a deliberate move to adapt to a fast-changing industry rather than "follow the beaten path".

Sound & Fury is the directorial feature debut of SXSW short-film regular Charles Wahl and is scheduled to go into production this autumn. It stars Canadian Screen Award winner Daniel Maslany as Gavin Tremblay, a divorced theatre director who becomes obsessed with taking revenge on an online influencer after a humiliating prank makes him an internet sensation, exploring themes of public humiliation and online culture. The cast also includes Shaun Majumder and Kaelen Ohm, with the film lead produced by Gharrett Patrick Paon (Wildhood). The launch builds on the company's existing work, which includes co-founding genre outfit Hangar 18 Media with Raven Banner Entertainment in 2017 and producing titles such as the Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren action feature Black Water.
