Rowan Jette Knox, a Canadian author and activist, says he now identifies as both transgender and two-spirit, citing renewed efforts to reconnect with his Indigenous heritage. The announcement has drawn attention to his changing gender identity and raises questions about how he understands his cultural connection.

Knox, 50, wrote on Threads that his Indigenous father left when he was a baby and that he is learning about his family’s culture and history. He began testosterone in 2023 and had a double mastectomy last October.
