Cancelo makes ‘dream’ Barca move after Al-Hilal exit
Portuguese full-back Joao Cancelo has rejoined Barcelona on a permanent basis after mutually terminating his contract with Saudi club Al-Hilal. The 32-year-old had left Manchester City for Al-Hilal in 2024 but spent last season back at Barcelona on loan, helping the club win the La Liga title, and becoming a free agent this summer paved the way for his return.
Cancelo has signed a three-year deal at Camp Nou, marking his third spell with the Catalan club but his first on a permanent contract. His arrival follows Barcelona's £65m signing of former Manchester City team-mate Rodri, as well as the additions of wingers Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, while Ferran Torres has departed for Paris St-Germain and Robert Lewandowski has joined Chicago Fire.
