- Mbilli is unbeaten; Alvarez is seeking to regain a world title.

## Summary

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Christian Mbilli made weight for their world title fight in Riyadh, despite safety concerns after ballistic missiles were intercepted over the Saudi capital the previous day. The bout is going ahead amid regional conflict and travel disruption, while several other sporting events in Saudi Arabia have been cancelled.

Both fighters weighed 12st (76kg) ahead of Saturday’s contest. Alvarez, 36, is returning to the ring after losing to Terence Crawford in September 2025 and is seeking another world title; Mbilli, 31, makes his first defence of the WBC super-middleweight belt and is unbeaten in 30 professional fights, with 29 wins and one draw. Saudi authorities said the intercepted missiles caused minor injury to a civilian and damage from falling shrapnel; the UK advises against all but essential travel to Saudi Arabia.
