- Fernandes remains United captain after being dropped.
- Carrick says he needs no assurances about his future.
- United have gone eight games without a win.

## Summary

Michael Carrick says Bruno Fernandes will remain Manchester United captain, despite being dropped for the defeat by Bournemouth after criticising the team’s tactics. Carrick called Fernandes important and committed, and said he expects him to continue leading the team.

Carrick also said he needs no assurances about his own future and was not surprised to remain head coach, though United’s hierarchy had discussed his position after eight games without a win. Harry Maguire wore the armband against Bournemouth but will not keep it for Saturday’s match at Chelsea; striker Benjamin Sesko is out until the new year with a shin injury, while Kobbie Mainoo has returned to training.
