Catching Up With the Currys: The Busiest Couple in Basketball Is Ready to Conquer Hollywood
Stephen and Ayesha Curry are expanding beyond basketball and cooking into wider entertainment ventures while continuing to invest heavily in their Oakland-based charity, Eat.Learn.Play. The couple, who met as teenagers at church in North Carolina, spent over a decade deliberately planning how to make a lasting impact in the Bay Area community tied to Stephen's career with the Golden State Warriors, rather than spreading their philanthropy more broadly.
Since launching in 2019, Eat.Learn.Play. has invested more than $100 million (£79 million) in Oakland schools and families, funding 35 million meals, $20 million in literacy resources, over a million books, and renovations to 24 schoolyards and six gyms, with the Currys covering all operating costs so donations go entirely to students. Alongside this, Stephen has built production company Unanimous Media, starred in and produced projects including Peacock's Mr. Throwback and the Netflix-acquired documentary short The Baddest Speechwriter of All, while Ayesha has returned to acting and launched lifestyle brand Sweet July, as the couple balance these ventures with raising four children and Stephen's ongoing NBA commitments.
