Catherine Zeta-Jones says she drew on funny, familiar Welsh personalities to play Jackie Price, a former cocaine dealer targeted by hitmen, in Prime Video’s new thriller Kill Jackie. She chose to make the character Welsh and use her natural Swansea accent, believing it would add authenticity and personal nuance to the role.

The series adapts The Price You Pay, changing its central character from a man to a woman and transferring the character’s eccentricity to Jackie. Zeta-Jones, who is also an executive producer, proposed a scene featuring Tom Jones songs, portraits concealing machine-guns and a Welsh-themed touch of humour. The series begins on 2 October, and fans have praised her accent; she also joked that her lifelong support for Swansea City prevented her from appearing on Welcome To Wrexham.
