CBS News chief correspondent Matt Gutman has been accused of making sexualised comments to a former ABC News field producer, Samira Said, in a wrongful-termination lawsuit against ABC. The allegations concern events while both worked at ABC, and form part of Said’s broader claim that the network failed to accommodate her medical needs before ending her employment; Gutman and ABC had not commented at the time of publication.

Said says Gutman and male colleagues discussed and rated a female correspondent’s appearance during an assignment, and alleges that he later made a sexualised remark about Said’s professional decision during a film press event. She worked in ABC’s Los Angeles bureau from May 2021 to March 2025, took medical leave from August 2022 to January 2023 after reporting severe psychological symptoms following coverage of the Uvalde school shooting, and says ABC denied requested accommodations on her return.
