CBS News Correspondent Nikki Battiste Joins NBC’s ‘Early Today’ As Anchor: “A True Homecoming”
Nikki Battiste, an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning journalist, is transitioning from CBS News to NBC News to serve as anchor of Early Today while also contributing to the Today show. After approximately nine years at CBS News beginning in 2017, where she reported on major national stories including the 2018 clergy abuse crisis, the pandemic, mass shootings, and school safety debates, Battiste is making the network change.
The move marks a return to Battiste's professional origins, as she began her journalism career more than two decades ago as an NBC page and production assistant on the Today show. Her departure from CBS occurs during a period of organizational restructuring at the network following recent leadership changes. Battiste will begin her new role at NBC the week of August 10th.
