## Key points

- Gambit’s universe and origins remain unexplained.
- Tatum links him to the older X-Men timeline.
- The film arrives on 18 December.

## Summary

Channing Tatum says Avengers: Doomsday does not explain which universe his Gambit comes from, leaving the character’s origins unclear. He confirmed Gambit is linked to the timeline associated with Ian McKellen’s Magneto and Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, but described it as “with grey around it”.

Tatum said Gambit has not really been anywhere and was, in a sense, born in the Void, as shown in Deadpool & Wolverine. The article suggests the film’s large cast may leave little room for his backstory, while noting fan speculation that the X-Men could die early; neither possibility is confirmed. Avengers: Doomsday is due on 18 December.
