Charley Crockett Is Still Mad About Twin Temple, Says He ‘Lost Respect’ for Jack White
Country singer Charley Crockett has reignited a dispute with Los Angeles duo Twin Temple, insisting he "lost respect" for Jack White over how the guitarist handled the row. The spat began more than a month ago when Twin Temple, who perform devil-themed Sixties-style songs, claimed Crockett had dropped them from his tour because of their "Satanic imagery" — a claim that won them an invitation to open for White and an appearance on The Daily Show. Crockett initially responded lightly, but has since used a lengthy Instagram post to dispute their version of events, accusing several artists, and White in particular, of exploiting the controversy to sell tickets.
In the post, Crockett said he actually decided to drop Twin Temple around a month before their planned shows due to concerns about accommodating their stage production, and admitted that some of their on-stage content also factored into the decision, since he felt it wasn't suited to an all-ages audience. He said the band was paid in full and accused them of orchestrating a misleading statement designed to suggest they had been dropped from the whole tour rather than a couple of dates. He also questioned White's credibility, suggesting the former White Stripes frontman had avoided political statements earlier in his career, though White did address political themes in songs such as "The Big Three Killed My Baby".
