Charli XCX features in a newly released clip from Gregg Araki’s film I Want Your Sex, which opened in cinemas on 31 July. The clip has drawn online attention largely because of her attempted American accent, with viewers criticising it and comparing the scene’s presentation to an SNL sketch.

The pop star had already faced similar reactions to an earlier teaser, and commenters suggested the new clip’s accent was even less convincing. Separately, Charli headlined Lollapalooza, performing “House” and “Dying For You” from Wuthering Heights live for the first time, and joined Lorde’s set on Thursday.
