Charli xcx said performing “Girl, So Confusing” with Lorde at Lollapalooza made the song feel increasingly special, reflecting the pair’s reconciliation after the track addressed tension between them. Lorde surprised the Chicago crowd during her headline set on 30 July, and Charli marked the duet with an affectionate Instagram post.

The remix, released in 2024, has only been performed live together a few times, including at Madison Square Garden, Coachella and Los Angeles. Charli previously said she wrote the original song about unspoken uncertainty in their relationship; after hearing it, Lorde apologised and suggested joining a new version. Charli was due to headline Lollapalooza’s second night, following Lorde’s set.
