Supporters and colleagues of Charlie Kirk returned to Utah Valley University on Thursday, one year after he was assassinated on the campus, in what Turning Point USA (TPUSA) called a deliberate act of "reclaiming" the site in his honour. The gathering, addressed by figures including TPUSA chief field officer Andrew Sypher and chapter president Sage Lloyd, marked both a memorial and a statement of defiance from the student movement Kirk built, with organisers stressing that his death would not be the final word.

Sypher, who said he had been standing roughly ten feet from Kirk when the fatal shot was fired on 10 September 2025, told the crowd they had not returned "to rehearse the crime scene" but to refuse to let a gunshot be the last word. He also shared a text he said Kirk sent him that morning, urging kindness rather than confrontation. The event featured worship performances, video tributes and the unveiling of a new campus statue, while Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk, marked the anniversary separately with a wedding photograph captioned "…until Heaven." UVU closed the campus for the anniversary and supported TPUSA's use of the space, though the university did not organise the memorial itself.
