The case mattered because a piano fill in the song was said to resemble one from Tammy Wynette’s “Stand by Your Man”, leading to shared songwriting credit for Wynette and her producer Billy Sherrill.

The single entered the chart on 10 July 1976 and reached the summit seven weeks later, becoming the sixth of Milsap’s eventual 35 country No. 1s.
