ChatGPT, Grok, and Claude all went down at the same time

The Verge · 2 hours ago

ChatGPT, Grok and Claude all suffered outages within roughly half an hour of each other, leaving users of three of the biggest AI chatbots unable to reliably use them at the same time. The near-simultaneous failures highlight how heavily individuals and businesses now depend on these tools, and how disruptive it is when several go down together, though it remains unclear whether the incidents are connected.

OpenAI's problems began around 11am ET, with its status page reporting "elevated errors" across ChatGPT and Codex affecting logins, file uploads, voice mode, search, deep research and image generation; the company says it has applied a mitigation but performance remains degraded. Anthropic's Claude and Claude Code, along with its API, ran into trouble from around 10:30am ET, initially hitting several models before narrowing to Opus 4.8 and Opus 5, with a staff member describing it as an "infrastructure issue" with no fixed timeline for resolution. Grok also went down across its Android, iOS and web apps, returning an "overloaded" error message, with xAI saying it was working to restore service. The Verge said none of the three companies had yet responded to requests for comment.
