ChatGPT adds interactive diagrams, charts and tools to responses

The Verge ·

OpenAI is launching an Intelligent UI feature for ChatGPT that allows the chatbot to respond with interactive visuals including diagrams, charts, forms, and buttons alongside text. This represents a significant shift in how ChatGPT communicates complex information, moving beyond text-only responses to a more visual and interactive format. The feature is rolling out with GPT-6 models (Sol and Luna versions) and aims to make learning and tool-use more intuitive.

The feature enables ChatGPT to generate diagrams (such as bicycle components), visual learning aids (like Mahjong tile sorting), and functional tools (calculators, games, bill splitters) directly within responses. GPT-6 was trained to decide when visual representations are more effective than text and how to format them properly. The rollout began today for paid subscribers—ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users receive the mid-range Sol model—with expansion to free and Go tier users on Thursday who will access the more efficient Luna model.

  • ChatGPT now responds with interactive visuals, diagrams, and tools.
  • GPT-6 learns when text or visuals work best.
  • Paid users get access today; free users Thursday.

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence chatbot made by OpenAI that assists users through text-based conversation. Since its launch in late 2022, millions of people have used it to answer questions, write content, code and complete many other tasks.

OpenAI is adding interactive visual features to ChatGPT, allowing it to display diagrams, charts, buttons and other interactive elements alongside text in its responses. Previously limited to text, ChatGPT can now create and show visual content such as charts, diagrams, calculators and games directly within conversations.

This development expands how ChatGPT can present information, as visual and interactive formats can be more effective than text alone for explaining many topics. Paid subscribers are receiving the update from today, with free-tier users to gain access soon after.
