Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen has been named the best fast-food chain for fried chicken and biscuits by a panel of five professional chefs, in a taste comparison organised by the website Allrecipes. The near-unanimous verdict matters as a marker of brand standing in the fiercely competitive American fried chicken market, where Popeyes was judged to have outperformed rivals such as KFC.

The chefs assessed the chicken on crispiness, lasting crunch, minimal greasiness and generous seasoning, and the biscuits on buttery flavour, flaky layers and tender texture. They stressed that good fried chicken should stand on its own without relying on dipping sauces, and warned that excess grease or dry biscuits count against a chain. Popeyes was praised for its bold seasoning and rich, buttery biscuits, while Bojangles and KFC received honourable mentions.
