Chelsea have agreed a £47.1m deal to sign Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, with the 22-year-old having already completed a medical. The move coincides with Chelsea finalising the sale of Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City for £125m, matching the British transfer record, and gives Xabi Alonso an alternative midfield option rather than a direct replacement for the Argentine.

Chelsea had previously had two bids rejected by Monaco but secured Camara at a reduced price after Folarin Balogun's move to Everton fell back into doubt, easing the French club's financial pressure. The club had also explored deals for Roma's Manu Kone and an unnamed Premier League target. Camara's arrival forms part of a busy summer that has seen Chelsea sign Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix and Emiliano Martinez, among others, as Alonso's unbeaten side looks to strengthen despite losing Fernandez to a rival.
