Six convicted after masked gang kills Dale Martin in Derby stabbing

Daily Mail ·

A gang of masked attackers armed with knives and machetes ambushed Dale Martin, 21, in Derby on 15 June last year, dragging him from his car and stabbing him to death. The attack arose from escalating tensions between rival groups in the city, marked by a pattern of 'tit for tat' confrontations that weekend and driven by deeper animosity between the Sinfin, Allerton and Osmaston areas.

Six people were convicted in connection with the murder. Jayden Mannion-Roberts was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 27 years; Ki Grant-Finlayson and Keenan Hamblett received 18 years and 17 years and six months respectively, having been arrested attempting to flee to Tunisia days after the attack. Kelci Thompson, Shaylon McCalla and Kayin Holmes were convicted of manslaughter. Witnesses described the attackers surrounding Mr Martin and behaving 'like a pack of animals' as they delivered repeated stabbing, slashing and chopping motions.
