Chris Hansen Questions “Hollywood’s Motive” With A24’s ‘Primetime’, Reacts To Robert Pattinson Casting: “I’m Going To See It”
Chris Hansen, the former host of NBC's "To Catch a Predator," has said he will watch A24's upcoming film "Primetime," in which Robert Pattinson plays a dramatised version of him. Hansen, who was invited by the film-makers to a private screening, said he remains cautious about the project and questioned what he called "Hollywood's motive" for making it, though he stressed he could not judge the film properly until he had seen it in full.
Speaking on the Serialously podcast, Hansen said he had only seen the trailer so far, describing it as "very dramatic," and suggested his name may have been used partly for commercial reasons. He revealed he had once envisioned Dennis Leary playing him in an earlier script attempt, rather than Pattinson, but had no say in the casting. Directed by Lance Oppenheim and written by Ajon Singh, "Primetime" dramatises Hansen's work on the 2004-2007 series, which used hidden cameras to catch adult men seeking to meet minors online; the film is set for a 25 September theatrical release.
