NBC News has confirmed that Christine Romans’ new weekday programme, “Current”, will launch on its streaming service NBC News Now on 3 August, expanding the outlet’s live news schedule. The programme is intended to strengthen NBC’s streaming offering by connecting financial markets, politics and global events with their effects on everyday households.

Airing from 10am to noon Eastern time, “Current” will cover finance, business, technology and artificial intelligence, with Kerrie Wudyka as executive producer. Its launch will bring NBC News Now to 14 hours of live programming daily; Romans joined NBC News in 2023 after two decades at CNN and was made chief business correspondent in April. The show will also introduce “50 States in 50 Days”, reporting with NBC affiliates on local responses to national challenges.
