Christopher Nolan's forthcoming film adaptation of Homer's epic "The Odyssey" is being expanded with two official companion books, giving fans additional ways to engage with the project ahead of its cinema release on 17 July. The tie-in publications signal the scale of the release, which is already being positioned as one of the biggest films of the year.

The books are being produced by Insight Editions through a new publishing partnership with Universal Pictures and Nolan's production company, Syncopy. One is a comprehensive behind-the-scenes account of how Nolan brought the story to the screen, while the other is an illustrated guide to the film's characters, locations and world. The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus.
