Leeds Minster, part of the Church of England, removed the tapestry Stitch Their Names Together after concerns that it commemorated Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad fighters killed in Gaza. The exhibition had been presented as a memorial to people who died in the conflict, but Jewish representatives said terrorist names were included, prompting calls for an investigation into the approval process.

The Jewish Leadership Council initially identified 12 names as highly likely matches for members of terrorist groups, while the Leeds Jewish Representative Council later provided evidence alleging that at least 18 fighters were listed. The exhibition’s founder called the criticism a smear campaign; the rector said the display was closed immediately after receiving the further information, and the church was reportedly referred to police.
