Claude’s new Reflect dashboard wants to help you log off of Claude

Engadget · 2 months ago

Anthropic has launched Reflect, a new dashboard for its Claude chatbot designed to help users review — and ultimately reduce — the time they spend using the tool. Described as a cross between Spotify Wrapped and Apple's Screen Time, the feature aims to make people more efficient rather than more engaged, marking an unusual move for a technology product that does not seek to maximise usage. It is being released in beta today and, notably, is available to Free accounts as well as Pro and Max subscribers.

Accessible via the settings menu on Claude's web client and desktop app, Reflect opens with a written summary of recent conversations and displays metrics such as most active day, peak hour and total chats, defaulting to the past month but adjustable to three, six or 12 months. It also offers break reminders and time limits, a breakdown of frequently discussed topics, and AI "fluency" recommendations co-created with academics — for example, suggesting the Projects feature or a custom fact-checking skill. According to Anthropic's head of wellbeing policy, Ryn Linthicum, the dashboard grew out of a Societal Impacts study in which participants expressed both optimism and anxiety about AI; a precise time-spent metric is not yet shown because the company had deliberately avoided tracking it, though it plans to add this and a mobile version later.
