Conservative commentators, including a Ted Cruz aide and Fox News contributors, seized on the fact that Bill Clinton's equivalent position was not labelled an "internship," with several drawing pointed comparisons to his 1990s affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

The two roles differ in scope: Hillary Clinton's unpaid internship covers research, scheduling, briefing memos and event support, while Bill Clinton's paid associate post requires a bachelor's degree and involves executive support, communications and special projects. Critics also mocked both listings' shared requirement for "discretion," a word that took on added significance given the Lewinsky scandal, which became public in 1998 after her sexual relationship with Clinton began in 1995 while she was 22. The Clinton Foundation and Lewinsky did not respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
