Come to Our WIRED@NIGHT02 Film Screening!

Wired · 2 months ago

WIRED has announced its second WIRED@NIGHT event, a special screening of the documentary The Oldest Person in the World, directed by Oscar nominee Sam Green. The film will be shown ahead of its September theatrical release at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, a venue chosen to match the documentary's meditation on longevity and mortality. The event pairs a well-regarded film with a discussion on a subject central to WIRED's coverage: the human fascination with living longer.

The documentary follows a decade-long global journey tracking the ever-changing record holders for the title of oldest living person, developing into a reflection on time, fate and the experience of being alive. After the screening, Green will join features director Reyhan Harmanci to discuss what can be learned from so-called "super agers" and why people are so preoccupied with the quest for a long life. The event takes place on Thursday 23 July at 7.45pm, co-presented with Rooftop Films, with general admission at $22, reduced to $12 for WIRED readers; subscribers get first access to tickets and save $10 using the discount code "WIRED".
