Comedian Leanne Morgan has criticised what she sees as Hollywood’s disconnect from mainstream audiences, arguing that producers wrongly assume viewers want more sexually explicit or profane content. She said the industry’s “bubble” can lead to portrayals that feel unconvincing, particularly for Southern and Christian characters, and suggested many people across the United States prefer more restrained, quality entertainment.

Morgan cited a scene from the film *You’re Cordially Invited*, in which she asked to remove swearing from dialogue for her Southern mother-of-four character; director Nick Stoller allowed her to make the change. The 60-year-old, whose Netflix sitcom *Leanne* follows a Southern woman rebuilding her life after divorce, also said she relied heavily on her Christian faith while filming in Los Angeles and felt pressure for the show to succeed. Her wider breakthrough came with the 2023 Netflix special *I’m Every Woman*, followed by a national arena tour and the 2025 film role alongside Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon.
