The Washington Commanders have rejected claims that players did not care about quarterback Jayden Daniels after his elbow dislocation. Coach Dan Quinn and several players said the apparent walk-off was caused by halftime timing and broadcast editing, insisting teammates were upset and concerned.

Daniels was injured on the final play before half-time, when officials reportedly told players they could not delay the break. Quinn said teammates, including backup Marcus Mariota, stayed with Daniels or returned from the locker room, while Brandon Coleman called the criticism “bull—-”. Mariota will replace Daniels as the team considers options including season-ending surgery.
