Constantly reshape the world beneath your feet in the reality-bending “puzzle-first” Uncanyon, the next game from the devs behind the trippy Maquette
Rock Paper Shotgun has revealed Uncanyon, an upcoming puzzle game from the developers behind Maquette, in which the very shape of the environment shifts and morphs as players solve puzzles. The reveal trailer impressed the outlet's writer for its seamless, hard-to-parse visual transitions, evoking a sense of wonder reminiscent of pre-CGI film effects, and marking a notable follow-up to Maquette's own reality-bending style.
Set in a realm also called Uncanyon, the game casts players as Sonia, a woman who falls into a fantastical world where hills breathe and trees change colour beneath her feet. Puzzle mechanics appear to involve manipulating the landscape, such as timing rolling barrels to reshape terrain, with a small amount of combat also glimpsed, though the game is billed as "puzzle-first". Uncanyon has no confirmed release date but is expected sometime in 2027, and is available to wishlist on Steam.
