Plainfield police in Illinois seized 650 toilet paper rolls allegedly intended for homecoming pranks after two nights of escalating complaints from residents. Groups of 20 to 25 masked teenagers had been targeting homes and vehicles in the area near Plainfield North High School with toilet paper, eggs, ketchup and detergent pods, prompting the police department to enforce a zero-tolerance approach to property damage and disruptive behaviour.

Over Monday and Tuesday evenings, officers responded to double-digit calls reporting pranks that affected homes unrelated to the high school, including families with young children. The police emphasised that the prank-related calls diverted resources from serious incidents, including a structure fire, DUI arrest and mental health crisis, whilst urging parents to encourage school spirit through respectful behaviour rather than property damage.
