## Key points

- Police searched two WVU fraternity houses in hazing investigations.
- Lambda Chi Alpha was suspended after anonymous allegations.
- An expert says greater scrutiny may reflect increased visibility.

## Summary

Police served search warrants at West Virginia University’s Lambda Chi Alpha and Pi Kappa Alpha houses as part of separate hazing investigations. The raids add to a series of cases drawing attention to fraternity practices and scrutiny of how universities respond.

WVU suspended Lambda Chi Alpha on 9 October after receiving anonymous hazing allegations; Pi Kappa Alpha had not been suspended when its house was searched on 26 October. Hazing expert Michael Ayalon said the rise in investigations may reflect greater awareness and reporting, including transparency requirements under the Stop Campus Hazing Act, passed in December 2024, rather than an increase in hazing.
