Australian Federal Police arrested a 30-year-old man at Melbourne Airport moments before he could board a flight to Kabul, Afghanistan, accusing him of possessing and sharing violent extremist material, including ISIS propaganda. The arrest of Mohammad Emad uddin Ahmadzai is the sixth linked to an alleged online extremist group chat being investigated by counter-terrorism police, underscoring ongoing concerns about the spread of radicalising content within Australia.

Police allege devices seized from a property in Roxburgh Park during a May raid contained graphic material such as beheadings, hostage executions and images of dead children in Gaza, alongside ISIS flags and logos. Ahmadzai, stopped by Border Force as he attempted to fly via Abu Dhabi with his family, told officers he was visiting his sick father; he has been charged with possessing violent extremist material and breaching the Crimes Act, and is due back in court on Tuesday. AFP Commander Paula Hudson said such material can act as a "gateway to terrorism" by desensitising people to violence.
