"Kingdom of Fear", from his 2026 EP Deep Water, gave Whitcomb his first entry on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, reaching No. 94 in June and cracking the top 20 of the Hot Rock & Alternative chart. Written at his home in Nanaimo with Jack Riley and Nolan Sipe and later finished in Nashville with Cal Shapiro, the song deals candidly with anxiety and inner turmoil, a theme Whitcomb says has resonated strongly with fans, including at a packed Boston show and a busy Stagecoach festival slot in April.
