A Scottish couple have been refused bail in Sydney after being charged with allegedly supplying prohibited drugs following a major suspected ketamine seizure. Police allege that Demi McDaid, 23, and Jack Farrelly, 30, travelled to Australia to help distribute commercial quantities of drugs, highlighting concerns about temporary rentals and hotels being used to avoid detection.

Police reportedly found 2kg of suspected drugs and packaging equipment in a short-term apartment in Artarmon after neighbours raised concerns, then traced the pair to a hotel three days later. Officers say they seized a further 107kg from a hire car allegedly rented by Farrelly, with local reports valuing the total at about £5.7 million; phones, cash and alleged drug ledgers were also recovered. Both remain in custody pending a further court appearance next month, while the UK Foreign Office says it is assisting two British nationals detained in Australia.
