Couple’s stay at Miami spa hotel turns into nightmare after finding man under bed in middle of night
A couple staying at the Provident Doral Hotel in Doral, near Miami, were left shaken after discovering a man hiding underneath their bed during the night. Ritchel Calvaire, 25, allegedly broke back into the hotel days after checking out, sneaking into their room and concealing himself as the pair slept, before being spotted and arrested the following morning. The incident highlights a troubling security lapse at the hotel and has left the guests badly frightened by their ordeal.
The woman told police she sensed movement near the bed at around 4am, then felt it move again around 6.30am, before spotting Calvaire underneath it at about 7.45am, prompting the couple to flee and alert hotel security. Investigators say Calvaire had stayed at the hotel but checked out on 31 August, later being escorted off the premises when he returned for belongings, before allegedly climbing over a balcony fence and entering through a rear sliding door. He now faces a felony burglary charge of an occupied dwelling plus resisting an officer without violence, and remains in custody at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center awaiting a bond decision.
