Courtney Love has said doctors told her she was likely to die after she moved from Los Angeles to London in 2019 and suffered a severe, previously undisclosed health crisis. Speaking while updating fans on her completed solo album, the singer said she has since recovered and is now healthy, and expressed a strong wish to return to touring and performing.

Love said she spent considerable time in hospital, lost her hair and weighed about 100 pounds during the illness, describing her body as having “exploded”. She linked her refusal to accept the prognosis to difficult childhood experiences, and noted that she had also nearly died from anaemia in 2021, when she said medical staff stigmatised her because of her past addiction.
