Coventry sign defender Pinnock from Brentford

BBC Sport · 4 hours ago

Coventry City have signed Jamaica international centre-back Ethan Pinnock from Brentford for an undisclosed fee reported to be around £6m, as the newly promoted Premier League club continues a busy summer of squad building. The 33-year-old was out of contract at the end of the season and had lost his place in Brentford's starting line-up, making him available for a relatively modest fee despite his experience.

Pinnock joined Brentford from Barnsley in 2019 and went on to make 216 appearances, scoring 12 goals, playing a key role in the club's promotion to the Premier League. He featured just eight times last season, however, and did not appear in Brentford's opening-day win over Tottenham. He becomes Coventry's tenth signing of the summer, following former Brentford team-mate Frank Onyeka, and their second central defensive addition after Aurele Amenda's arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt, with the Sky Blues having now spent more than £100m on new players.
