Netflix has renewed the young-adult drama Crew Girl for a second season, which will deepen the complicated rivalry between protagonist Teagan and her ambitious peer Britney. The upcoming season will explore whether Teagan can cox the all-boys rowing team whilst simultaneously competing on an all-girls team, whilst also navigating a significant new plot thread involving love interest Josh's serious heart condition, which may prevent him from rowing entirely and fundamentally reshape his character arc.

Teagan (played by Miku Martineau) is a 16-year-old who became coxswain of a dysfunctional all-boys rowing team at an elite East Coast prep school in season one, where she developed romantic tension with teammates Josh and Cam. Showrunner Vivian Lin has emphasised that the Teagan-Britney dynamic transcends a simple love triangle, describing both girls as "incredibly competent" rivals driven by mutual competitive ambition. Season two will examine how Josh's hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) impacts his life, family relationships, and identity as a rower, with Lin indicating the condition will be treated seriously rather than as a mere plot device.
