Sony's Crunchyroll has struck its first traditional streaming bundle deal, partnering with Starz to offer both services together through Amazon Prime Video. The tie-up, launching Wednesday, is aimed at expanding the anime platform's reach in the US market by pairing it with Starz's slate of dramas and thrillers, reflecting a wider industry trend of streamers bundling services to attract and retain subscribers.

The combined package will cost $16.99 a month, a 23 percent saving compared with subscribing to each service separately, and will span genres including anime, action, thrillers and sci-fi. Starz content available through the bundle includes the Power universe, Fightland, S.W.A.T. Exiles and the upcoming Outlander: Blood of My Blood, while Crunchyroll brings titles such as Dragon Ball, Naruto, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, My Hero Academia and Cowboy Bebop, alongside new series like Black Torch and Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3. It follows an earlier, more niche bundle Starz launched with Britbox, and comes as Crunchyroll, a joint venture between Sony Pictures Entertainment and Aniplex, looks to broaden its audience beyond dedicated anime fans.
