The Tennent’s Soccer Sixes indoor football tournament is returning in October in a legends format, bringing together teams from all 12 Scottish Premiership clubs. The revival matters because the competition was a popular fixture in Scottish football during the 1980s and early 1990s, when clubs often selected prominent first-team players.

The event will take place at Braehead Arena on 3 and 4 October and will be televised by Premier Sports. Three regional groups of four will play on the Saturday, with eight teams reaching the knockout stage; drawn matches will go to penalties, with a bonus point for shoot-out victories, and sin bins will be used. The original tournament ran for nine years from 1984, with Partick Thistle winning the final edition in 1993.
