## Key points

- The article criticises Burnham’s Gogglebox appearance as poorly timed.
- It argues the Government should focus on urgent national issues.
- Badenoch says Burnham should tackle difficult decisions.

## Summary

The article argues that Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s appearance on a celebrity edition of Channel 4’s Gogglebox makes him look unserious at a time when the country faces major challenges. It says his early months in office should focus on difficult decisions, and claims voters may resent his light-hearted media appearances while awaiting action on pressing issues.

The commentary points to concerns about defence funding, public finances, border management and the approaching Budget. It also criticises recent announcements on nuisance behaviour on public transport and emergency food stockpiling, and cites Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch’s criticism of Burnham’s priorities. These are the article’s opinions and claims; it gives no figures for the proposed defence funding or details of the Budget.
