Dancing with Shakira at World Cup was ‘very, very, very, very, very good’ – Ghetto Kids

BBC Entertainment · 2 hours ago

Uganda’s Ghetto Kids said performing with Shakira and Burna Boy during the World Cup final half-time show was a life-changing experience. The young dancers appeared before millions worldwide, despite criticism of introducing a Super Bowl-style performance to football’s biggest match, and described excitement at seeing players including Lionel Messi and Lamine Yamal.

The group was founded by Dauda Kavuma to support homeless children and those unable to afford school fees, offering dance alongside housing, food and tuition. Their rise began through Ugandan music videos and online popularity, with a 2017 appearance in French Montana’s *Unforgettable* attracting more than 1.9 billion YouTube views; they later reached the 2023 Britain’s Got Talent final and competed on America’s Got Talent.
