## Key points

- Woll suggested making Karen solely responsible for the crash that killed Kevin.
- The change deepened Karen’s guilt and shaped her Season 3 story.
- Karen returned to a more active role in *Born Again* Season 2.

## Summary

Deborah Ann Woll’s suggestion changed the flashback at the heart of Karen Page’s tragic backstory in *Daredevil* Season 3. She wanted Karen’s guilt over her brother Kevin’s death to be unmistakably her own, making the revelation more devastating and reinforcing why the character is shaped by guilt.

The original script had Todd Neiman chase Karen and Kevin as they fled a fire, leaving him with some responsibility for the car crash. Woll proposed that Karen, intoxicated and angry, crash the car herself while fleeing with Kevin, who died. The article says Karen returned to an active role in the second season of *Daredevil: Born Again* and is expected to continue in its third season next year.
