- A fan gave the band a live sheep.
- The sheep chewed credit cards and hotel furniture.

## Summary

The Dave Clark Five became one of the most successful British groups in the US during the 1960s British invasion, briefly rivaling the Beatles commercially. Their popularity brought intense fan attention and an unusual gift: a live sheep that drummer Dave Clark took to the band’s hotel suite.

Clark recalled that the unattended animal chewed through the group’s credit cards and furniture while they were performing. The band appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show 18 times, had 17 US Top-40 hits and scored a number one with ‘Over and Over’; they also reportedly sold out 12 consecutive Carnegie Hall concerts.
