David Beckham and U2 Team With Street Child United Charity for Short Film to Air During Final World Cup Games (EXCLUSIVE)
David Beckham has teamed up with the rock band U2 and the charity Street Child United for a short film called "Street of Dreams", backed by Bank of America. The four-minute film follows a young girl who, after being made homeless, holds on to her dream of playing football; Beckham appears as a personification of her inner voice, a guardian only she can see. The project marks a shift from Beckham's usual World Cup advertising work, using his high profile during the tournament to spotlight youth homelessness and access to sport.
The full film was released on 8 July 2026, though a 30-second edited version will be broadcast on Fox and Telemundo during their North American World Cup coverage from 13 July, including the semi-finals and final. It stars newcomer Nevaeh Derricks and is set to a new U2 track of the same name, with Bono and his bandmates appearing towards the end. The film supports Bank of America's "Sports with Us" platform, which aims to reach more than one million young people globally and make football accessible to every US school by 2030, and coincides with the charity's #IAmSomebodyTour. It was directed by creative duo King She (Radha Ganti and Robert Lopuski) and produced by Freuds in association with Somesuch.
